Government Computing: Wirral Council save £336k on support

Three year windfall driven by Support Revolution engagement in bid to cut Oracle support costs.

Wirral Council claims to have saved £336,000 since it switched from Oracle support three years ago.

The council, which employs 3,500 people, uses Oracle’s E-Business Suite to manage several services, including cash management, CRM, procurement, general ledger, account payable & receivable.

But three years ago, it decided to move its Oracle support to third party Oracle and SAP maintenance provider Support Revolution as a cost saving measure to cope with squeezed budgets.

The savings have enabled Wirral to create a more agile workforce, introduce more remote working and undertake a migration to Windows 10 for all of its users.

Support Revolution won the business when the council’s support contract was put out to tender, with the aim of reducing costs while retaining the existing quality of service.
