CBR: Avoiding getting stung by the Oracle “minibar”

CBR Online recently published an article by Support Revolution’s CEO, Mark Smith. Mark discusses how Oracle’s business practices are very similar to a hotel’s minibar.

Simply accepting the default install of Oracle software could lead to paying heavy fines when audited. Our CEO Mark Smith explains how in Computer Business Review’s latest article on Oracle’s business practices.

“At the end of a relaxing holiday or successful business trip, all that’s left to do is check out of the hotel and head to the airport. But reception has a nasty surprise for you. It turns out those small packets of nuts from the minibar (and maybe even a late-night drink or two) were a little more expensive than you expected. The unexpected bill you now need to pay means the planned budget for this trip wasn’t as realistic as you’d hoped.”

“Oracle’s enterprise software works in a similar fashion.”
