PPL is the UK’s music licensing company for performers and recording rightsholders. PPL (Phonographic Performance Limited) licences music played in public or broadcast on the radio or TV in the UK. It then distributes the fees to the performers and recording rightsholders they represent. Decca and EMI founded PPL in 1934, and as of 2019, collects royalties for over 100,000 performers and recording rightsholders.
